For this week’s She-TO Boost Blog Series, we are pleased to present Cristina — CTO Boost’s Business Analyst. Whether it’s crafting the She-TO Boost questions, sharing a fun tid-bit of information, or undertaking new research, it often seems as though there is nothing she can’t do. She’s even been dubbed the company poet, as she’s responsible for writing the beautiful birthday poems we share for each employee. When she isn’t analyzing research, you can find Cristina sipping on a glass of wine on a patio or training for her next triathlon.
It’s no secret that technology is a male-dominated industry. According to a recent study, women hold less than 20 percent of the technology jobs in the United States, despite accounting for more than half of the country’s workforce. Recently, Observer published an article outlining some statistics that show how large the gender gap in technology is. Here are some key takeaways.
It’s the fifth instalment of She-TO Boost, and this week we’re featuring CTO Boost’s Administrative Assistant – the marvellous Maggie! Whether it’s organizing a company outing, crossing another item of her to-do list, or preparing for the next conference, Maggie is the foundation of the company and keeps everything running smoothly. She’s a lover of all things wine, pizza, and food-related, and she ensures that our employees are never without a mid-day, pick-me-up snack. Plus, she’s likely the only person that could keep our CEO Gurminder on time.
Unsurprisingly, our current society experiences higher levels of stress than previous generations. In 2019, it is estimated that over 700 million people worldwide are affected by mental health issues – many of which are directly correlated to stress. For many academics and researchers, the cause of these elevated levels of stress is clear: The Fourth Industrial Revolution.
For the fourth instalment of our She-TO Boost blog series, we’re so excited to announce Ebru: CTO Boost’s UX/UI Design Extraordinaire! Ebru’s slick design skills and astonishing innovation shines through in every project that she puts her creative touch on. Not only is she a skilled UX/UI designer, a fan of a quick midday shopping trip, and an avid traveller, but she’s also a professional at all things video game related. On a Thursday afternoon, you can catch our Turkish Delight Ebru beating everyone in the office in Mario Kart – even the Devs.
Although industry leaders recognize the value of data, they aren’t using it. This is because they don’t have the right tools or resources to do so. In fact, the majority of respondents stated that they are counting on AI to help them extract value from data. Yet, most do not have the technology or skill necessary to utilize AI. Moreover, 69 percent of respondents stated that they aren’t even trying to learn new skills, with almost half of respondents saying it’s because they’re “too old.” This is not only hindering their ability to unlock business value, but it’s also expensive. Storing data is less costly than it used to be; however, it is still expensive – especially when you aren’t leveraging it.
A year ago today, Ali came to CTO Boost as an Executive Assistant but quickly moved into her current role as Project Coordinator. Armed with beautifully crafted flashcards and her healing crystals, Ali fills our office with an unmatchable amount of organization, positivity, and passion. She’s also the first person in the office to lend a helping hand to someone in need, or to offer up a quick lesson on yoga and all things spirituality. When Ali isn’t at the office growing her knowledge of project management, you can find her belting out a song at a pub, or constructing a piece of jewellery out of recyclables.
The tech industry is built on constant innovation. Tech is fast-paced, and this sector can often come with high-stakes, high-expectations, and high-stress for those working within it. Since tech is often about maximizing opportunities before your competitors, many people working in tech feel as though it’s crucial to work 24/7 to stay at the front of the latest technology or risk falling behind. For many organizations – especially start-ups – small teams are often challenged with the task of managing a large workload, as well as other life responsibilities.
One hand on the reigns, the other on our hearts, introducing Keira, our Operations Manager! With a project management Midas touch, she brings focus, organization, and purpose to every project she encounters.
